Bars Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Town Hall Hotel & Apartments. We are currently recruiting for enthusiastic Bars Manager to join the team as we are reopening.

Set in the heart of London’s vibrant East End, previously awarded Top 100 Wedding Venues in the World by Brides Magazine; Town Hall Hotel provides a variety of conferences, weddings & social events throughout the year. Town Hall Hotel has long been a popular fixture on East London’s foodie scene and for a good reason. Located on the first floor of the Town Hall Hotel, the 30-cover Corner Room with Assembly Room Bar is an informal haunt by day and intimate lounge room by night, the restaurant is a familiar player on the evolving culinary landscape in this corner of the capital.

The main responsibilities for the Bars Manager will be:

  • Responsible for the effective running of the beverage operation in the hotel.
  • Creating and constantly developing the drinks and events offering to unlock the potential of the business and drive excellent financial performance, and create a destination in the local area.
  • Passionate about what you do, lead and train the team on drinks knowledge and to exceed guests’ expectations
  • Maximizing beverage profitability by ensuring effective cost management systems are in place
  • Creating and implementing a bar sales plan to grow the business and complement the achievement of Hotel targets
  • Ensuring that all staff comply with Health and Safety regulations and other relevant legislations regarding hygiene, licensing laws and measures

Working closely with the Executive Chef, we are looking for someone to deliver outstanding quality, control costs, support and develop the kitchen team. Being part of the small successful team, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge, dedicated behaviour, attention to detail and a commitment to your responsibilities. If you are creative, passionate about delivering excellent food to the customers and have a positive and flexible attitude, then we would like to hear from you.

The ideal Sous Chef will have previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef or Sous Chef making this a fantastic opportunity for you to use your specialist skills and a chance for career progression. As the contract is 40 hours per week, this is an ideal role for someone looking for great work-life balance.

F&B Supervisor

This role would be across our Food & Beverage department so every shift could be different; from looking after a film crew in our Council Chamber to running a wedding reception in our De Montfort Suite to running a shift in our Corner Room Restaurant or Bar. We need someone with strong events or catering experience and able to lead a large team in a busy environment.

196 Bishopsgate, located in the heart of London’s financial district, offers a range of fully serviced apartments from Studios to Penthouses.

People Manager will be responsible for the management of all HR operations across both properties and this is a great role for an experienced and seasoned professional. The purpose of this role is to provide the full range of HR Generalist support from both the operational and strategic perspective. This will include providing support and guidance on ER, Talent Management and Development, Performance Management, Engagement and Reward. In this true generalist role, you will also be managing the HR policies and practices, HR initiatives, resolving queries and delivering a first-class service to the business and the people. We are looking for a real people person with a passion for empowering, motivating, training and developing people.

Being part of the senior management team, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge and dedicated behaviour. You should keep fully up to date with all developments in terms of employment legislation and employee relations issues and utilise this technical knowledge to provide advice and guidance to the Heads of Departments. The successful candidate will be highly professional, have excellent communication skills, be well presented and understand the importance of meeting business objectives.

Core responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Supporting & advising senior management team with all aspects of HR functions
  • Regular reporting of HR metrics and setting of KPI’s and performance measures
  • Managing HR system and ensuring all HR activities completed & recorded in line with employment law and best practice
  • Coaching and mentoring managers and providing support for employee relations, including disciplinaries and grievances, performance issues and effective absence management to facilitate performance management process
  • Driving all recruitment and talent management activities including employee lifecycle events and leading a creative hotel induction programme
  • Driving improvements across the business including retention, reward and employee satisfaction
  • Providing effective training solutions and devising training plans for employees at all levels to drive culture of learning and development
  • Devising & managing a training budget
  • Ensuring all HR policies are reviewed and updated, in line with current legislation
  • Work closely with the finance team to process monthly payroll
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
  • Experience in similar role within hospitality industry, preferably standalone
  • Practical experience leading on Employee Relations (ER) and Talent Management
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-faceted and fast paced environment
  • Proactive, ideas-driven and technically astute with attention to detail
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills to drive a business and its employees forward
  • Sociable and motivated, great at generating ideas and taking responsibility from start to finish
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
  • Up to date with employment law and best practises
  • CIPD or relevant degree– desirable
  • Advanced user of IT systems- Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Advanced user of EPS hospitality platform – desirable
